Program Engagement Review

A pathway to achieving a co-op led program

The CEHL Board recognises that for us to achieve a co-op led Program, co-ops must be provided with real and effective opportunities to influence Program decisions and direction. As shareholders in CEHL, member co-ops have a fundamental right to do so.

Improving our approach to engagement is an important first step.

The Program Engagement Review is the key to finding out the best ways we can ensure that Co-op influence on Program direction is strengthened and central. This project is a CEHL Board initiative to have conversations with each co-op on the current approach to Program Engagement, and opportunities to improve it.

We are seeking your opinion in two rounds. The first is this survey of 14 reflective and 14 rapid fire questions. It should take around 20 to 25 minutes to complete. We are looking for your co-op’s, rather than individual member’s, view. One survey covers your whole co-op.

We will not identify your individual co-op in the results – so please feel free to discuss anything you want.

You can fill out the survey online, on a mobile phone, or on paper, or you can do it with us over the telephone if you would like to talk. Contact Merle Zierke 0407 706 611.

Once we have heard from every co-op we will compile the results and run interactive workshops later this year to talk to each other about the ideas raised. We are looking at what existing planned engagement opportunities we might be able to make use of and this could include part of the September regional forums.

If you have any questions about the survey, please give us a call.

Thank-you for giving us your time. Your opinion matters!

    UPDATE 14 June 2018:

In the Chairperson's Report at the 2017 CEHL AGM, Karren Walker highlighted the importance of ensuring member co-ops are provided with effective opportunities to shape Program direction. Engagement opportunities are fundamental to having a truly co-op led Program.

Recent feedback has indicated that some co-ops do not find current Program engagement opportunities effective or accessible. Furthermore, it is unclear how co-ops who do not take part in engagement opportunities view the current approach to Program engagement.

Against this backdrop, the Board has initiated a project that will involve discussions with each co-op across 2018 to build a deep understanding of the current approach to Program engagement and recommend to the Board a range of new engagement mechanisms that respond to the feedback received and that are also deliverable and cost-effective.

To ensure that the process is accessible for co-ops, and for resourcing purposes, the project will be led by an independent consultant. An Expression of Interest for the project is currently underway and it is anticipated that a preferred consultant will be identified by early April 2018.

Once the consultant is in place, they will make contact with each co-op seeking their views on how best feedback from the co-op can be obtained.

Please watch this space for further updates.
